I am not so sure that I understand what you mean by ''a-'' stands for AGENT. In the translational gloss for (1b) it says that

(1a) shows a deverbal nominal derived by the prefix a-. I am not so sure that I understand what you mean by a- stands for AGENT. In the translational gloss for (1b) it says that the meaning of the derived noun is beloved. Wouldn't the thematic role of the beloved rather be the Patient?
