here an example: The Institute of Adult and Continuing Education (IACE ) started in 1953 as the Department of Extra-Mural Studies to serve the three East African countries. Its major role was to act as the extension arm of the University thus ‘taking the University to the staff’.In 1966 the Department was restructuredin into a Centre for Continuing Education (CCE), later (1922) CCE was elevated to the level of the Institute of Adult and Continuing Education (IACE ) One of our departments includes the Department of Adult and Communication Studies(AECS ).
