I am Mary Steele. I am from N. Ireland (Ulster) and have worked with GILLBT (Ghana Institute of Linguistics, Literacy and Bible Translation)in Ghana since 1962. I work on the Konkomba language, and also on the Bimoba language, both in Northern Ghana.
I have been involved in the translation of the New Testament in both the Konkomba and Bimoba languages, and also in the complete Bible in these two languages. Both of these Bibles are now published and are in circulation.
I am currently working on a second edition of the Konkomba Dictionary, using FLEx. I am also continuing work on Konkomba Syntax description. I have also produced primers for adult literacy, as well as an Introduction to Learning Likpakpaln - Konkomba, and edited booklets on health and other topics. For Konkomba there is an NGO called RILADEP (Rural Integrated Literacy and Development Programme) which has been operating for more than ten years.
The Konkomba people number around one million, living mostly in Eastern Ghana, but also in Western Togo.
