User:Adriana S Pagano

ADRIANA PAGANO

	Is Associate Professor in Translation Studies at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), Brazil, where she directs MA dissertations and doctoral theses in the Graduate Programme in Linguistics and Applied Linguistics. 
	She earned her PhD in Comparative Literature at UFMG with a dissertation on translation historiography in Latin America. 
	Following her doctoral studies, she got a position at UFMG and became a researcher at the Laboratory for Experimentation in Translation.
	She was a visiting scholar at the Translation Center, University of Massachusetts at Amherst, USA (1999-2000) e at the Department of Applied Linguistics, Translation and Interpreting, Saarland University, Germany (2009-2010).
	In the last decade, she has been engaged in several research projects and has participated in academic exchanges with Macquarie University (Australia), Mahidol University (Thailand) and Instituto Balseiro at Universidad Nacional de Cuyo (Argentina). 
	Her research interests include domain knowledge in translation tasks; expertise and expert knowledge in translation; and quality assessment in translation as seen from an end-user perspective. 
	She is particularly interested in expert translators as managers of meaning making in multilingual environments.
	She is coordinator of the Systemic-Functional Translation Modeling Group and is currently working on a description of Brazilian Portuguese for multilingual text production drawing on equivalence and shifts among language systems when paired with Brazilian Portuguese. 
	Her teaching and research focuses mainly on Portuguese, Spanish and English.
